POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accounting Supervisor will oversee general accounting functions, including supervision of assigned staff, to maintain our organizations assets, liabilities, revenue and expenditures and to ensure transactions are complete, timely and accurately recorded in compliance with internal controls, GAAP, as well as grant / government regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Supervise the functions of the Accounts Payable Specialist to ensure that transactions are processed timely and accurately. Supervision includes, but not limited to, recording vendor invoices, check request, check payments, online payments, cost allocation, tracking agency obligations, and grant transactions.
2. Assist with bi-weekly payroll to ensure employee earnings, taxes, withholdings, and any special adjustments are accurate. Serve as secondary contact to CND staff for all payroll issues.
3. Reconcile General Ledger accounts, maintain month-end closing worksheet, review recorded transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
4. Maintain all Excel cost allocation worksheets, Fixed Asset records and related depreciation schedules.
5. Track grant financial activities, expenses related to all funding sources, review and analyze expenditures for all grants monthly to ensure cost are allowable and in compliance with Federal OMB Circular A-122, grant contracts/agreements and other regulatory requirements.
6. Prepare monthly budget to actual statements for review by CFO.
7. Complete the annual IRS information return for forms 1099-NEC and 1099-Misc.
8. Assist the CFO with preparation for audits, annual 990, grant applications, budgets, and periodic grant reports.
9. Monitor and distribute grant award payments in accordance with approved grant agreements.
10. Assist the CFO with Medicaid/Medicare cost reports, tracking and reviewing Health Care Claim Payment and Remittance Advice.
11. Participate in staff meetings, committees, attend conference, trainings, webinars/seminars as needed to as enhance your knowledge, broaden your horizon and obtain continued education.
12. Perform other duties as assigned to promote the overall mission and vision of CND.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. Minimum three years of Non-Profit accounting experience preferred. A minimum of two years of supervisory experience preferred.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Knowledge of Non-Profit accounting.
A high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
Thorough understanding of grants and cost allocation requirements under Federal OMB Circular A-122.
The ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles, knowledge of financial accounting practices and procedures.
Knowledge and experience processing IRS forms1099 Misc. and NEC.
Excellent organizational, communication skills and attention to detail.
Thorough knowledge of QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
Advance level skill in MS Excel to create advanced formulas for cost allocation.
Payroll processing experience is highly preferred.
Computer Skills
Proficient use of personal computer, Microsoft Word software for mail merges, Microsoft Excel software Formulas, Functions (Logical, Text, Lookup, Reference, etc.) and Pivot Tables and use of office equipment (e.g., fax, copier, printer).
Other Requirements
Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license; must pass a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen.
